In 2009, the Export Centennial Committee was formed to prepare for Export's 100 year anniversary in 2011.  For three years, the committee worked hard to raise money and host events, including a large street fair in August. The Centennial committee was honored with the Arthur St. Clair award for historic preservation by the Westmoreland County Historical Society for their efforts.
The events and historic preservation efforts were so well received, the Centennial Committee decided to become the Export Historical Committee, and eventually Historical Society.  The group meets monthly to plan for upcoming events and historic preservation efforts in the Borough.
The Society's work is currently dedicated to planning for an Ethnic Food and Music Festival on August 20th, 2016. This festival will also include the grand opening of the refurbished 1939 Caboose permanently parked downtown Export. The Caboose will house historical memorabilia and will periodically be staffed and open to the public for viewing.
